"An Authentic Life"

It takes approximately nine months from conception for a fetus to become fully formed and ready to emerge into the world. From that point a person begins the journey of learning who she is and what she will make of her life. For a woman this often includes caring for and helping others find their way, sometimes at the cost of being clear herself what is right for her. The Women's Learning Community experience is designed to provide an opportunity for women to spend time in solitude and with each other, as they continue the journey and chart their own course.

During each nine-month period beginning in September, a group of eight women, who are ready to contemplate their own lives, will commit to meet together monthly for the purpose of clarifying direction and enriching their lives through self-reflection, meaningful connections, and creative learning.

2009 - 2010 Program

The 7th year of the Women's Learning Community will begin with an overnight retreat on September 12 - 13, 2009 at The Tumbling Creek Lodge in McEwen, TN.  The Opening Retreat offers a time to relax, eat good food, and meet the other women in the group. The centerpiece of the retreat includes structured activities designed to help each woman identify where she is in her life and what differences she would like to see.  By the October meeting most women have decided what is particularly important to her to focus on during the next nine months. 

Seven meetings follow on Saturday mornings from 9 AM - Noon at my home in Nashville, including a full-day meeting in February. The program will conclude in May 2010 with a Closing Retreat at a retreat center. It is not uncommon for a woman to have to miss one of the monthly meetings, however, attendance at the Opening Retreat is essential.

The program fee is all inclusive -- private accommodations for the two retreats, meals at both retreats, lunch at the February meeting, and all materials. Three private, individual coaching sessions and email/phone contacts between meetings are part of the program, at no additional charge. The program fee is $2750.

This Learning Community experience is limited to eight participants. In order to form a compatible group that will provide an ideal learning environment for all the members, participants for the group are chosen from letters of application and personal interviews. If you are a woman with an inquiring mind and an open heart and would like to be a part of this experience, write a short letter telling a bit about yourself and why this is of interest to you. I will be in touch with you to discuss your application further. Following your acceptance into the program, a check for $250 reserves your space.  Half of this fee will be refunded in case of cancellations after acceptance and prior to August 15 when the full payment is due.  After August 15, no refunds will be given.
